T1D in Bahrain

Gilly3108

Hello. US expats considering moving to Bahrain for work (boyfriend will actually be working in Saudi but as we are not married, we will live in Bahrain). He is a T1 diabetic with a continuous insulin pump and glucometer. Anyone know about T1D in Bahrain? Recommend a good endocrinologist? Anything we should know? I’ve been searching online for answers but doesn’t seem to be much.

Thank you for any help you can offer.

Not much is available online here I am afraid.  However, there are lots of diabetics in this part of the world (Due to the lifestyle and habits of the population) and generally this disease has very good medical support in most GCC countries.  For recommendations for good endo's, I suggest to post on the Mums in Bahrain Facebook group where they routinely share experiences and provide recommendations.

Thank you for the suggestion. Never thought about a mom’s group but makes perfect sense.

Yeah, it is a very big community group on Facebook.  A lot of the posts are about recommendations for doctors, hospitals, schools etc.  You get great advice for those.  But when it comes to visas and other formalities; it is severely lacking and that is when you come to expat.com :).
