Travel to Odessa from Chisinau this June, 2025.

glennrmiller

Hi all!  I will be traveling from the U.S. (Liberal/Democrat FYI) to Chisinau to visit and look for properties in Odessa.  I am hoping to find some expatriate(s) in Odessa to provide travel information/advice/warnings/help.  Best case would be to find someone to chat with soon and hopefully provide the invitation I will need to cross the border.  I am very appreciative of any help someone can give me.  Thank you so much in advance!

I will be traveling there next week and hope to look at some properties.  There does appear to be quite a variety, as expected.  I will post after I get more information.  Hope it will help you!

Good evening Glen, I live  Near Odesa ( Your Odessa is Russian ) so better write Odesa. When you arrive if you can centre of Chisinau there is a bus station, You can buy a ticket that will take you all the way to Odesa this is a good bus service   Basically its Flixbus change the url for your location you can also get buses from the North Bus station. Odesa is a hot zone at the moment, Make sure you have a good passport, and at least a friends address or a hotel booking as the boarder police are very keen. When you arrive in Moldova you may be pulled aside by the USB (Moldovan). Just tell then you are transiting they will leave you alone.

Cost is about 1500 UAH it can take 4 to 5 hours. My advice would be not to carry a lot of cash with you. All the banks are working without issue, exchange rates are good, the cost of living has gone up a little , but so has the exchange rate :). The electric is a bit of an issue, but you get used to it. There's no issues with food and cafes and restaurants are mostly open as usual. If you wish to travel around use UBER personally, i would use a wise card to exchange money as its also a debit card. Can be done on line as well takes 5 minutes and its a virtual Ecard. Keep your passport with you at all times, not a copy. You may never see a police or SBU but there. There are quiet a few places for sale, Just don't think about Zitoca as there was no permission to build there. Chornomorsk.
