English family wanting to relocate to Valencia

Sunshine42

Good evening
I am relocating to Valencia on the sale of my house accompanied with my young family.

I wonder if any expat can offer advise on
1) lawyers for property purchurse,
2) any advise to avoid controversy while buying abroad, will I require a visa or while we are in the EU is there's any requirements to register.
3) home schooling groups! Is there this option?
4) bricklaying jobs; although I don't plan on requiring to do any work, should I be unable to be self sufficient is it possibly for English to get work bricklaying?
5) How soon can property purchurse from offer accepted to becoming the legal owner take?

Thank you in advance and help is really appreciated. We are potentially looking to move within the next three months.

Sunshine.聽 聽This is my post on another thread.聽 It applies to you too:-

鈥淢oving to spain means you will need to register on the EU Citzens Register effectively immediately.聽 聽 聽That means you must have full medical cover and at least around 400 euros a month income

If you 鈥榮ay鈥 you are just here looking around, then you can stay for up to three months permanently without registering聽 聽

If you get a job offer the official letter of the offer or a contract wil cover those two requirements鈥

As an EU National you do not neeed a visa and you have the same Rights as a Spaniard (post brexit no one knows).聽 聽 Unemployment is high in Spain

In theory you could buy a property in one day.聽 To make the checks and arrange an appointment with a notary, you can only sign the purchase contract in front of one, would take a few days.聽 聽 聽But it can be completed very quickly

Whilst most people will want to use some sort of legal representative, if one has the knowledge, there is no legal requirement to do so.聽 聽I have bought and sold for myself several times and helped my son and a couple of friends without using a lawyer.

聽 Inevitably using a lawyer will delay everything as they will be trying to justify their fee for doing聽 almost nothing !

Good luck

Thank you. Very helpful advice.
Would I be correct to assume I can buy the house as a holiday home firstly and then begin to sort residency out?

If you read between the lines I said聽 聽鈥業f you 鈥榮ay鈥 you are just here looking around, then you can stay for up to three months permanently without registering聽 鈥

To buy a property one needs the funds, a valid passport and an NIE. That is a fiscal ID number.聽 If you apply for EU Registration it will be the number on that document. If you will not be moving here ( just looking around maybe ) then you can apply for just that number

There is no difference if you buy聽 a property聽 to live in, let out, use for holidays etc .聽 The difference would be what you use the property for.聽 That would affect what taxes you would pay in subsequent years.

Sunshine42

Thank you again. I suspect it would be in my advantage to apply for my registration number right away. I was told you get theee forms from the police station, not sure if this is correct.
Thanks

Sunshine.

I do not suggest you lie when you go to the police station.聽 Doing that can land people in difficulties.

If you decide to come and look at properties, job possibilities,聽 etc, not decide to MOVE here,聽 then you can apply for just an NIE and stay permanently for up to three months.

That application, and also EU Citizen Registration, can only be done on line.聽 It is not entirety straightforward, especially of one does not speak Spanish, although on the internet there is a lot of helpful info.聽 聽It would though be helpful to have a Spanish speaker with you when yo go on the internet.
