Priscilla

Hello,

We invite you to share some information regarding the job market for expats in Spain. This information will be incredibly helpful to anyone considering moving there, so we're very grateful for your contribution.

What are the types of jobs that are easily accessible to expats in Spain?

What are the ones most in-demand for expats?

Which industry and/or jobs have limited workforce?

Are there any existing surveys, data, or reports done regarding this topic?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Spain has a lot to offer. However jobs for expats is not an easy thing to find other than English Teaching.

That being said, there are some other positions that are very interesting..

Many are from Multinational companies but even there it is very hard to find a job due to the work permit situation which is very hard to achieve in Spain unless you are married and/or have some sort of family connection to the EU.

as i know, au pair is a good job for students, especially for people who only can speak English in Murcia. for people who can speak both English and Spanish that is better and maybe can have a job in a restaurant or teach languages for children.

So I will speak for Barcelona :

If you have no qualifications as an expat you have a lot of call centres you just need to speak any language that is not Spanish, it is almost 100% of expat

If you have qualifications in IT and you speak at least English there are a lot of tech companies and Start-Up hiring even King or Amazon Web Services, for example, generally, at least 50% of the employees are expats

Thank you Marnie.

How do we get selected in those call centers ? Are there any Spanish job sites hosting those openings ?

If a non skilled expat non Spanish speaker needs to earn an income in Spain it can be a rather desperate place to be. Spain has 20% overall unemployment and 40% youth unemployment. Most (but not all) Brits end up with the skivvy jobs within their own communities, bar work, cleaner, pool cleaner, gardener, handyman, airport runs and usually all illegal cash in hand.

If posters are looking for work it would GREATLY help (potential employers) if they say if they are mobile (or have kids in school?), what languages, and what skills. Given a choice would they prefer coast, interior or Capital City? I help hundreds in this position, but am impotent without it. will save bothering others who are not interested in this topic.
