Retirement in Scottish Borders

sueclements1

Hi all,

looking for some advice. We currently live in the north of England and we are considering moving to the Scottish Borders but very unsure which area to look at. We would like to be in a village close to a town so that we have amenities available. We love the outdoors and we are looking for a slower pace of life.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

many thanks

Sue

Hi and welcome to the Forum.

We moved to North Yorkshire when we moved back from living overseas and found that was a happy medium.  If your heart is set on actually living in Scotland, then you could try Dumfries, I've been there a few times and found it a nice place with all the facilities you would expect.

I hope this helps.

@sueclements1 Melrose. It's close to the railway station to get a train to Edinburgh. Borders hospital a short drive. A lively village feel and all amenities at nearby Galashiels.
