I am interested in opening a bank account with atlantico as a non resident. The account opening page has a link which list the documents needed to open a bank account.

The Question that I have is ,

I know it is not possible to generally open a Portuguese bank account without a NIF but yet, atlantico聽 for purposes of opening a non resident bank , just wants the foreign tax identification number instead of NIF?

Has someone has any experience with them without NIF ? Are there any other banks like atlantico that do not require NIF for non resident accounts?
