There's an interesting article in ThePortugalNews    25 Oct 2025      Page 19

"New foreigners' Law" has been promulgated.

Which includes stuff on "work" visa and restrictions on family reunion etc.

It's true, there are new immigration and nationality laws.

They are the outcome of the mess (!)  that the government of former Prime Minister Antonio Costa left the country, with the extinction of the SEF and the open door policy. Finally, there are rules that put an end to all this. With the approval of +70 % of parliament.

In the meantime, this gentleman is now a high-ranking representative of the EU. He probably no longer remembers the chaos he left in his country, as has been shown by the posting of countless threads on this forum. He's gone, but he left behind the countless problems for others to solve.... such as +600,000 illegal immigrants, among other problems.... There are so many problems that it is a hard task to mention them all...

Well, Costa is paired with von der Leyen, which is a similar case but from Germany.

I just read this article. It looks like a perfect storm is brewing.

That's interesting, because Costa is a socialist and Von der Leyen is from the People's Party. As a "good socialist", Costa is in line with other socialists who have created chaos in Portugal, such as Guterres... and Socrates who is facing a court case  ...

I was thinking along the lines that "failed" politicians are usually promoted upwards and far away. I feel that the EU administration is full of these people and I wonder who they are working for. But, what do I know?
