Waiting for Verification against EU law

plag45

My spouse who is a Hungarian-American is relocating to Netherlands. I am an American and will apply for the verification against EU law.

I know he will have to Register, get BSN, apartment, bank account and all that. Do I have to apply only when he gets a job? Do I have to wait until he gets al that to register as well or do I wait until I get a letter for IND?

I read the website said that we have to have sufficient income and health insurance, is that from a job he gets or savings? How much is enough?

We already have all the legalized documents and the forms filled out. So hopefully that helps.

Can anyone advise please?

You need a residency card / permission to stay, or an an EU passport.

My outgoings are about €2500 per month. Holland is not a cheap place to live

Thank you Peter:

Can you elaborate on the below please?

I read that the website said we have to have sufficient income and health insurance, is that from a job he gets or from savings we have in an account already? How much is considered sufficient to show?

Can anyone advise please?

My situation is different, I'm from Scotland and came here while I was an EU citizen and applied for my IND card before Brexit and it was a formality because I worked here for 5 years

But you will need a durch language certificate for it.

Most important thing is to get an employment contract, some companies will sponsor you for a work visa, with a contract you can get a BSN number, then you can rent a house, register with the Gemeente (city hall) and sign up for energy and such.

You should contact the gemeente office and find out if you can get a BSN number, when I first came it was called a sofi number and it was given out by the tax office, I got one in 20 minutes because I was a temp worker

The best advice I got was from the HR department of my employer, they even got me a 30% tax ruling from the tax office.

So realistically, Dutch language certificate and employment contract are the first things you need

You need to be in Netherlands already before you can apply for verification of EU Law

It is important that your partner have sufficient income to register you. They do not need much. A part time job from an agency will do.

Your partner can register at the gemente to get a BSN NUMBER to enable him search for work or he can submit a savings, sufficient to last for a year while he  looks for work.

Once he has all the requirements, both of you can apply together with the IND for verification of EU Law.

Remember IND and gemente are two different offices. You(not your partner), need the letter that you will receive from IND after you have applied for the verification in order to register in gemente since you are not EU.

If you are still outside the european union, then you need a VisA. The schengen visa from any EU COUNTRY is enough to enter netherlands. A visiting visa is enough to apply for verification of EU Law

The verification of EU Law does not give you a VISA

The application for verification of EU Law is done 100% online with DIGID.

@plag45

If you are not already in EU, from experience, apply for a simple VISA like visiting visa and start the process here.

There is a lot of delay in Family reunification VISA applications and it is really difficult,

Thank you all for your advice and comments.

If my spouse doesn't make an equivalent to a year's salary or have that amount I'm savings?

Am I understanding correctly that we need to have 23000 in savings if my spouse doesn't work yet?
