US citizen travel

Anyone here anything about US citizens being able to enter Malta? My husband and I want to retire there, but I’d like to be able to visit first!
Thank you

See . Currently the US is in the red zone, meaning basically you can't go to Malta yet. But supposedly they're going to update this tomorrow (June 1). Keep checking!

You can if you spend 2 weeks in a country not on the red list.

Good morning Melinda,

FYI, my husband and I moved from the USA to Malta at the end of 2020.  I was born in Malta, but left when I was 12 years of age.  However, because I hold a Maltese passport, we were able to travel to Malta - BUT, we had test negative before we left the USA, test negative again at the Luqa airport, quarantine at a hotel for two weeks and then get tested again, 10 days into our quarantine.

With regards to your situation - I might suggest that you check out the US Embassy web site in Malta, for clarification on your travel plans.  See link below.  Or contact the Maltese Embassy closest to you for information.  Prior to our departure, we kept in constant contact with the Maltese Embassy in Washington, with regards to our travel plans. As far as I know, even though Malta is beginning to reopen, no one is permitted to enter Malta from a red zone country (USA).  Suggestion: maybe you could travel via a corridor country (i.e. Croatia) and then quarantine here in Malta?  Just a thought!

Wish you all the best!

Take care,
Val and Eddie

I wish I could afford to spend 14 days in my corridor country, but I cannot. We want to retire in Malta, hope we can get there sometime soon!
