costs for Residency Application?

_Marcus

hello, I'm in contact with a law firm for a Residency Application. They quoted the price of €3,500 for:

â–ª Forwarding the application forms
â–ª Guidance through the application process until determination
â–ª Accompanying you for the submission and collection of the Residence Card
â–ª Assisting with registration for tax purposes

To be honest that is way more than I expected. Is that a normal rate or will I find this service for way less?

thanks,
Marcus

Why are you not doing this yourself?

Hi Marcus,

it is quite expensive actually. We can have a chat about this if you like - my whatsapp is ***.

Why not do the application yourself once you are here, as you are from an EU country you do not have to pay.

@Marcus, I see on your profile you're German. Do you apply for EU ordinarily resident?

I applied last week. I went to Identity Malta in Msida with all docs prepared. They stopped me at the door. I had to apply for appointment in advance via email. Ten days later, I am still waiting for a reply. I've called a few times but they tell me to wait for email reply.

Ask the law firm for a time estimate. If they can speed up the process, maybe it's worth it?

Normally when you apply for residency you have to take three months worth of bank statements to prove you have been living here, therefore you may not get an appointment for a while.
We have changed our cards because of moving, the expiry dates been up and because of brexit and have paid absolutely nothing.

hello, thank you for all your messages.

Yes I'm from Germany. I will bring my girlfriend with me. She lives in Switzerland on a work permit but has a passport from Ukraine. We have a daughter auf 17 month together. So we will apply as a family. The law firm will charge even more for adding my family.

I think that will be to complicated to do myself. I don't want to lose time by making mistakes.

It's quite easy to do on your own, however I also used a legal firm to do mine when we came as it's really nice to just have one less thing to worry about - especially when it involves family reunification laws etc.

I still feel it was money well spend even after knowing how easy it is.

Hi Volcane-which firm did you use?
