After moving to Malta, setting up home and turning your accommodation into your personal abode can be a great way to start off your new life and feel at home. We would like to know whether expats are keen on decorating and furnishing to warm up their space whether for the festive season or all year-round.

Upon renting a new apartment or house in Malta, do you redesign your accommodation to suit your taste? Are your choices influenced by price, climate, etc聟?

Have you brought any interior decoration items from your home country or did you consider buying any once in Malta?

As an expat in Malta do you find it worthy to invest in home decor? Could you share what you have bought and perhaps some interesting places to shop for home decor?

How would you describe the local style of decoration? Have you picked up any item which reflects the local style?

Would you be inspired by the festive season to decorate and add a festive touch to your living space?

The most of my furniture I bought before I moved to Malta. This means I was having the task of finding the right room for each item.

As I was having an additional bedroom I finally decided to have it furnished by a local furniture company.

I really see no big difference when it comes to furniture, however people in Germany often buy DIY furniture which is less habitual over here, but less does not mean it is impossible.

Even though Malta is an island we are not isolated due to the fact we have daily ferry connections to Sicily in Italy. Over there in Catania is a IKEA shop and more and more people from this island get acquainted with IKEA.

I am sure the difference between the locals and the expats is little when it comes to furniture. The style is almost unified, but of course local habits are different.

When it comes to the Christmas tree over here people cannot just buy a tree from the forest, because we have no forest over here. The alternative is a homegrown cedre from the garden or a plastic tree made in China.

However, the difference is little and nobody will suffer a culture shock.聽 Also Hindus over here adapt themselves easily to this society. They celebrate Christmas and Divali alike.

I will sure bring some twinkling lights with me as long as i can find in market聽 .. it helps us to celebrate our festival .. and for others decorations will they ( land lord ) allow us to decorate their home .. i mean i am expat and i am in sharing apartment .. maybe this decorations stuff is only for those expat who are living wealthy in malta .. Poor me. 馃お馃お
