First off, do you have a contract, signed by your employer and yourself stating the annual salary?

Secondly, the salary you negotiated, is it gross or net? Tax has to be deducted from your salary. I don't know how it works when an employee is employed with a Maltese company but the employee is stationed abroad. But with employees located here in Malta have to pay the National Insurance (NI). Both tax and NI are deducted from the monthly salary. The amount paid varies as it is calculated on the monthly income and the number of Mondays in that particular month. The NI (10% of your salary paid by you and the same amount paid by your employer) is paid every Monday. So if there are 5 Mondays in a given month (eg. last July), your salary will be smaller.

The inflation benefit you mentioned is called the Cost of Living Adjustment (Cola in short). This varies every year. This year (2018), it is €2.75 for full-time employees per week increase.

There are 4 bonuses for full-timers as follows:
- in March: around €121
- in June: around €135
- in September: around €121
- in December: around €135

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I have a contract signed by both me and the employer, under malta law. From the 16800 (gross) yearly, all the respective taxes and NI are paid to malta state as far as the employer told me. I forgot to state that I'm working a full time job, 8h a day.

So basically, it doesn't matter what salary I negotiated per month, I can receive less that that even with monthly bonuses he told me about. Here in my country we negotiate a monthly salary and we receive the same amount each month.

So if there's the bonus every 3 month (40-45 euros per month) why in the other months I'm receiving less than 1200 euros as we negotiated?

My math goes like 1200(negotiated) x 6 months = 7200 + 121 + 135 = 7456 euros I should have received so far. And yet, I only received 7318 euros in these 6 months.

Am I missing something?

Is the 1200 euro monthly before or after paying the tax and NI. If it is before, then the monthly salary you receive will be different each month as I explained in my previous message.

Also,

How come in April there's 5 Monday's and I received 1289 euros, in  July there are 5 Mondays and got 1145 euros and in August there's 4 Monday's and received only 1177 euros?

We negotiated 1200 net salary each month + the bonus from Cola (another 40 euros). So at the end of the month I would receive a total of 1240 euros in my bank account. This would mean after taxes right?

He "forgot " to tell me that each month I will receive a different amount, but in each case, the numbers just doesn't add up for me. What am I not getting?

It varies for all of us every month, its a easy thing to forget I imagine since it affects basically everyone.

I would suggest you discuss this with your employer, HR Department or the person in charge of the payroll and ask them to show you how they come up with the final figure.
