EU national moving to Malta, residency?

matijal

Hello,

I just found this website, so many useful informations, great, I love it, thanks guys. I also have a question.

I'm Croatian national, EU, freelancer in IT industry, working with clients from all over the world, mostly in USA and I'm thinking about moving to Malta for a year or two.

As a freelancer, I assume I will be self-employed, right? How hard or complicated is the whole process of getting residency? Does long does it take?

Thanks

Thanks for the link, I've read most of it already but I would like to hear your personal experiences. I hope that's ok.  :)

Read the pinned posts, they contain most of the information you need although they need a little updating.

Don't take too much notice of what is in the 'Living in Malta Guide', much of the information is incorrect as it was put together by people who don't live here!

Theoretically 6-8 weeks but every experience is different :). My paperwork was lost so I didn't bother to reapply and now only use my British passport as ID when asked for my resident's card. Never had a problem.
