going topless isnt allowed,and my wife wasnt allowed to get on a bus when she had a bikini on,so i doubt it would be looked upon with any great joy.

I have not encountered any problems whatsoever and I have discreetly breast fed my daughter outdoors and in many public places during the past 12 months.

There's one hell of a difference between wearing a bikini on a bus and breast feeding.
The latter being acceptable as it is natural.

so is walking around naked,if you put it that way.

Of course but it is the context that defines each scenario.
And, breastfeeding is as natural as anything.
It's only some men with their own agendas that try to make it anything else.

i agree,and when you add the religious side to it,a simple act of nature becomes almost taboo.

Don't worry about breastfeeding.  As Redmik rightly said it is a natural thing to do and lots of women, including Maltese, do it.  Obviously do it discreetly and no one will say anything

I know joined this discussion late, but I know several of my new mum friends have breastfeed in Malta with no problems.

On the bikini on bus issue, last year in northern Spain things had got so bad ie people going into shops and café in just swimwear not only posters where being put up but a law had to be introduce to forbid the wearing of just swimwear so many metres from beaches, which we where all gratefully for!!

just to elaborate she was wearing a wrap around thing  on her bottom half,she wasnt flashing the flesh,we areBritish after all.it waa also about 8-9 years so maybe attitudes have changed a little.
I think the short answer is use common sense and you should be ok.

the wearing of swimwear in shops in uk hit the headlines with Tesco just this week so its not surprising that it should hit here too - common sense must prevail but you will always get those who dont have any.
