Well in my flat sadly there were no pots or pans, silverware or anything at all needed in the kitchen. But it is different in every place. Plus you can talk to your landlord and say what you want in it.

it is indeed different for every flat - but one word of advice if you cant see it ask for it...dont be afraid to ask - rentals are easy to find and the local landlords want your money...be bold and ask for what you want....and dont accept the first one you find - it is rare to get it right the first time so expect to make the odd mistake just consider damage limitation be wary of the smiley smiley overly friendly landlord (genuine ones do exist) and check everything and then check it again.... be choosy and be specific....further be very wary of the landlord billing trap. ask the question about the bills - are they at domestic or residential rates - will you be allowed to be named on the bills...also remember if its 0 rated (zero) or domestic you will be paying considerably more....if in doubt ask to see a recent bill if its refused or the question appears to be being dodged or the answer is vague...either by the landlords or the agent WALK AWAY...

If you already have these things, bring them.
We put the microwave, kettle, toaster and some pots, cutlery and other kitchen tool in a box and store them, because they were used, heavily used - and quite ... disgusting :-P
Same for some pillows and blankets ... we stored them and bought new ones.

This, of course, does not apply if you rent a appartment with new furniture and new kitchen utilities.

I agree - we boxed and stored much of what was supplied as theyre not exactly keen on spending their money when they dont have too.

the better quality properties tend to be looked after better and are usualy supplied with better quality equipment.

Thanks - all very helpful - I'll bring essentials but request anything we think should be there - if the landlord says no then: walk away.
We are in no big rush so won't get pushed into anything.
