Hi,
I will be soon moving to Malta in the next few months and would like advise for myself and my wife......
I am ex forces and currently working for HMP and my wife is a staff nurse.
I have sent a few CV's off via my father in law in mellieha but not sure if ill get any sort of response as still in the UK at the moment.
Anyone know how long to wait before i send them letters and cv's again till I get a response.
we have enough equity in the house to cover but this is our future safe guard and dont want to be sat idling away as always worked

I have some friends who live in Malta. When they first started to apply for jobs they barely got any answers at all. Malta is in that way a bit behind the UK. They want to meet people face to face apparently. When my friends moved to Malta they got jobs within a day.

I'm just thinking it is like the Maltese saying that they 'do not pay for a fish in the sea'. It also explains to me why they like to do things face to face.

I have never been in Malta before but I will go there in the middle of March and try to get a job . As far as i have understood it (correct me if I am wrong) they are looking for a lot of people for their IT companies.

Since there are a lot of freshly graduated and well educated native ICT students looking for a job, in the meantime a foreigner must provide sound skills and experience to get a good job in the IT sector.
Anyhow, the foreign owned Online-Companies still prefer foreign employees because of tax advantages ...

There is a lot of betting companies that are looking for people who can speak German, Dutch, or any of the Scandinavian languages. It is not the best pay, but it seems really nice to move to Malta and get away from all the Irish rain.

It's at least better paid than many of the other available jobs ... and IMHO the shift working time is much better and flexible than wasting almost the whole week with a 9-5 job or a 6-days-a-week-job in the tourism sector.

But if you once have a family things looks different ...
