Terminated, new job applied, travel with old residence card

Hi, I resigned from my previous job formally, and have submitted for a new job with a new employer. They have successfully submitted my application with ID Malta and it is under process. So, if my existing residence card's expiry is valid for three more months, can I travel with that residence card.
