Italian citizenship by descent.

lilchrit

@lnjwilbur Have you gotten your citizenship? I am working with Coco Ruggieri now and have been since 2021. I am just wanting to hear from anyone who has fully completed their citizenship process with them, Thank you!

My husband and I (US citizens) are ready to start the process of Italian Citizenship by decent and are considering using an organization called The Italian Passport. We plan to move to Italy to speed up the process since our consulate is not taking appointments. Has anyone successfully obtained their Italian Citizenship through this company?

Hi All, Is there a requirement to be legal resident in Italy for 3 yrs before applying for Italian dual citizenship by descent?

I have most of my documented evidence and surely qualify.

Currently American citizen residing in US.

Thank you

Based on my current experiene No is the answer to having to be a legal resident in Italy for 3 years when applying for juris sanguinis (sp) aka by descent. You actu do not have to reside in Italy and can apply from the States. Advice: get a lawyer, based in Italy that deals with these cases, look at the Italian Consulate Website that you reside in. Be sure you actually have ALL your documents gathered and have had them apostilled in the appropriate states. It is a process depending on where your relatives lived or immigrated to. The State Dept must appostile your USCIS documents. We waited months and months, like 18!

We moved to Italy in January to complete the process. Our Florence based attorney only gave the ok once we had all documents he had reviewed in hand.

We came on an elective Visa obtained at the Miami Consulate. We have no had to have the documents translated into Italian. We anticipate our actual application will be presented to the commune in a month. Be aware you have to have your residence lease or deed prior to coming to Italy if you plan on completing the process in Italy. Ex. we signed our lease in October, 23, moved in Jan., 24. We had to produce the lease for application. As i have mentioned you can do it all from the States. Depending where you will file in Italy will impact your waiting time. Ex. file and live in your relatives home town, will move you through the process more expeditiously. Maybe, 😂FYI, start taking Italian!!!!
