Foreign nationals can indeed obtain a mortgage in Italy. However, there are some restrictions and considerations to note. While Italians apply for a mortgage for up to 80% of the property’s value, foreigner nationals may find Italian lenders are willing to offer only up to 60% of the property’s value, especially for non-residents. This means that the application can be submitted to any bank granting mortgage loans.
