Applying for an Irish Passport Tax Question

livinginsea

I am thinking about applying for an Irish Passport (My Grandparents are Irish)vas I would like the option of being able to stay in europe for longer than 90 days. I currently have a UK Passport. If I manage to get an Irish Passport and spend less than 180 days a year in Ireland, do I just need to continue paying Tax in the UK. I don't plan on living in Ireland, just want the passport to travel to Europe.

Cynic

What passport you have has no bearing on where you are assessed for taxes, this being a matter of where you are deemed resident, so wherever you live for more than 183 days in the tax year will deem where you are assessed.  So, if you live in the UK, HMRC will continue to assess you for all of your world-wide income.
