For the schooling I truly think it's better children finish in UK, educational system here is mediocre, plus,do they know any Greek?
Are u planning to stay here temporarily or is this a permanent move?
As far as "expats community" goes I really do not know of any, people are generally dispersed all over the city.
For your pets, this means u will need a "house" and not the usual apartments that we have here, which means more $$ etc, I dont know your economical status , if you're planning to buy or rent ect...!

hi be very careful have lived in glyfada for 1 year and have found it impossible to get my daughter into school or nursery !!!!!education is in crisis Can never get a straight answer on what you need to register your child at a school.Told yoy have to prove that you have lived in area for over 12 mths so have taken my daughter back to the uk for schooling.RE dogs many homes do not have land so dogs wil  be on balconies dog theft is ripe in greece my 2 were both stolen from our home for hunting ps pointers will be targeted !!!!

Hi thanks for the info on schools and dogs. I have had a look online at the british embassy school st Lawrences in the south of Athens that follows the british cirriculem. However i would have to go and visit many times. My husband will move out first, he will be given an housing allowance if we all move out there. What you said about the dogs though is quite worrying. Is it really that bad about dog stealing. I thought Athens had problem about stray dogs on streets!
  I am not going to rush into anything. We will keep taking trips out to Athens when my husband starts his new job in December and get a feel of life in Athens.

Dog stealing I never heard of LOL!!!!
This is probably an isolated case,really.I wouldn't worry about that part.
There's LOTS of strays yes,however its hard to have dogs in appartment buildings from the lack of space and yards are not common.
As for Glyfada it is quite a safe area compared to Athens centre/ Downtown. I agree you should visit several times and do your own research, there is LOTS of bureaucracy here.
For the schooling I would really suggest they continue in UK, however if you find something that you judge suitable here with Britisch curriculum etc then you should be fine.

glyfada would be the best place for your dogs as its the only place with space eg beaches . to give the dogs a good run . but i know some beaches dont allow dogs but the strays never take any notice . lol.
