Bachelors degree recognition

Nick639

Hello,
I would like to study in Germany for my masters degree. However my bachelors degree is listed as a H+/- in anabin. How bad does this effect my chances of getting acceptances into a masters degree program? Is it up to the individual universities? Does anyone have any experience with this?

Hallo,

The required Gpa in the most of universities is 2.5, so you have to calculate your Gpa according to The GERMAN GPS, and it different from uni to uni field to field, what did you study?

My degree is in history and have a 3.5 GPA on the American scale so I believe that is adequate. I’m more concerned with my degree being recognized.

This is false information. The question would not be the grade point average, which is good,  but if the program is recognized and a H+/- rating shows that the institution is not necessarily passing the standard. The institution considering acceptance would have to get more details of the specif program and decide. Don't make flippant judgments that are unfounded.

Anabin which is used for recognition of degrees has 3 ratings as detailed below in a quote from the Anabin website. The translation is that H+ is considered equivalent to a German university degree, H- is not and a H+/- means that it is not determinable just by the institution but would have to be individually considered according to the program and I guess done by the individual institutions considering acceptance. The post by another that it is just based on grade point average is simply incorrect.
