Where should we move to?

Jelly_Bean

Hello everyone, I am new here!
I will be moving to Germany with my family early next year. My husband will be working from home with the occasional trip to visit clients, and therefore we have freedom to choose where we want to move to. We both speak German. Can anyone give some suggestions on family friendly places? I have a few criteria:
- Within 1h to 1h30 of the nearest airport as we travel frequently.
- Would prefer a smaller town to a big city, but would still like to have amenities within walking distance (bakery, supermarket, drogueriemarkt,...)
- Kid-friendly with activities for kids, places to explore, baby club, baby gym , etc
- Nursery and Schools nearby
- Surrounded by nature (walks through forest / mountains nearby / parks / lakes...)
- Bike friendly
- Safe

Any ideas? Thank you very much!!

Hamburg will be a nice location. Because of the green vegetation

Paderborn, Münster or Osnabrück

Freiburg is probably the most family friendly city in Germany. Not too big and surrounded by fabulous nature - plus the best weather in all of Germany. And one is very close to both France and Switzerland. And as a university town it is known for being liberal and welcoming of foreigners

There are probably thousands of towns in Germany that fit your requirements.
Most if not all of Germany within 1.5 hrs drive to an international airport. Most places are family-friendly and all but the biggest cities or the smallest villages are close to nature AND have the amenities you mentioned.
Thus you could be comfortable anywhere (provided you speak sufficient German!).
