Student Loan for a Student Visa in Germany

Hi Everyone!

I am planning to take a bachelors degree in Hamburg School of Business Administration on October 2019 through a dual study program. So the company be the one paying for most if not all the tuition fee amounting to 620 a month. Aside from the tuition fee, they are to give the student a monthly allowance, which is between 650-1.200 depending on the company. So university studies is divided to practical and theoretical phase and will be distributed as such: 3 months in university-3months working in the company and repeat.

I can imagine that the work days accumulated in this system will be more that the allowable 120 working days /per year in a student visa. So first questions is, is a student visa still what I would need to apply for if I'm to do a dual study?

For a student visa, I know I would need 8.700 euros in a blocked account in Deutsche Bank. But if I have signed a contract with a company promising they will provide me 650-1.200 euros monthly will I still actually need this blocked account or will that contract with the company be sufficient proof that I will be able to cover my living and education expense?

Finally, if in case that will not be recognized by the embassy as a form of proof that I will be capable to sustain myself while studying here and will really need to open a blocked account. How does an international student get a Studentkredit in Deutschland? Is it even possible? I've heard of Kfw, but it seems like to apply I have to be related to someone from Germany or EU, which is not the case for me.

Additional information, I am already in Germany as an Au Pair. I'm using this au pair year to visit universities, apply to companies, learn German and just the general things on how to live here for a long time specifically during my studies. My au pair contract ends at the end of June, and so is my visa. So I will already need to apply for my student applicant visa by March 2019. Meanwhile, University or work at the partner company will start either on September or October.

I hope I've mentioned enough information for everyone to formulate an idea or solution from this.

Dual studies are a combination of coursework and practical work at a company (who pays for it). As such, I would expect a student visa to be NOT applicable, especially if the amount of work is above the student visa limits. I think you do need a work visa that allows part-time studies. But please confirm this with the school, your embassy or Auslaenderamt.
A work visa does not require a blocked account.
There is no possibility for a non-EU student to get a student loan in Germany.

The website of the HSBA is pretty thin on information, especially concerning international students. Basically they write that one should contact them for details. So why don't you do this? They are the ones who should know the answers to all of your questions!

I don't know the visa requirements for such a dual study program but I'm sure they have figured this out. In contrary to what Beppi wrote, I think that since the work is specially done in context of this study program that a study visa rather than a work visa will be required 鈥� but again 鈥� this is speculation on my part and you should verify with the school.

The main thing is that you need to find a company that accepts and sponsors you in this program. I assume the school knows which companies are potential candidates. But it is impossible to predict your financial situation until you have been accepted and worked out what the company will provide. Any additional financing of living expenses will be up to you. Interestingly, the HSBA mostly offers classes conducted in English but one is supposed to have good German as well.

Thank you for both of your response. I have now emailed HSBA.

I am also already in contact with a few companies that I met in HSBA's Business Speed Dating event. Hopefully, I get an answer by next week.
