There will be a validity on your visa. You have to arrive within that time frame but it is not a good idea to wait until near the expiration date.

You´ll have to register within 7 days of moving into permanent accommodation. And then you have to apply for your residence permit.

A friend of mine, who is on a research year in Germany, made appointments with the Einwohnermeldeamt and the Ausländerbehörde months in advance, before her husband even got his visa, because there is such a backlog in Berlin and appointments are scarce.

The specific time frame for entering Germany after obtaining a work visa can vary depending on the type of visa and the regulations set by the German authorities. Typically, after receiving a work visa for Germany, you are expected to enter the country within a reasonable period, usually within 90 days.

@jongore219. Thanks for your response.  We actually applied to the Agentur für Arbeit and got our Zustimmung, then travelled to Germany, registered and applied for our Aufenthaltsgenehmigung and got a Fiktionsgenehmigung the same day. Now just waiting for the Actual Arbeits/Aufenthaltsgenehmigung.  The lady at the Ausländerbehörder said approx 3 weeks for that so we shall see but in the meantime we can work.
