Paris - Help, just found out am pregnant

ash

Hey everyone,

Another question re having babies in Paris. I just found out that I am pregnant and need to register at a hospital or clinic for D-day (which will prbly be early November - but since space is so limited apprently, I need to do this now).

I would be grateful to obtain some info on a hospital/clinic/doctor/obstetrician, etc, that is friendly, professional, warm and competent.

Anyone has any ideas?

Merci beaucoup.

You've got a lot of choice in Paris!

Where are you based?

Am in the 12th arrond. Alot of choice there is, but apparently with a lot of cold, unprofessional, unsympathetic personnel!! I want to know if someone has any experience with a particular hospital or clinic where they were happy with the service, the doctors, the obstetrician, the personnel, the food, the room, the care.

Thks!

Why not the American Hospital of Paris ?

Far away from the 12th arrond. but well-known (+ bilingual staff and direct access Metro line 1)

"For over a century, the mission of the American Hospital of Paris has been to bring together the best in French and American medical practices to provide high quality healthcare to members of the French, American and international communities residing in France and abroad.

My wife has two great ob/gyns in Paris. One is near Place de la Republique. Her name is Tatiana Oppenheim. She speaks English (if that is an issue) and is listed in a number of anglophone Paris guides. She may not still be practicing, but my wife recommends her. She also recommends Dr. Edith Finet in the 15th. Her English is OK, and we both like her a lot. We opted to have our baby in Canada, but have no reservations about the hospitals in Paris. I think the health care in Paris is the best int he world. Did you look at St. Louis?

Ecris tu français?

Normalement c'est ton gynécologue qui doit t'orienter vers une clinique et vers une sage-femme pour l'accouchement.

Tout ça il doit te l'expliquer.

As tu un gynécologue ?

You do have to preregister with hospitals but usually you do this through your ob-gyne.  Who will then set you up with a form that you send to your Secu.

Good luck.  After having had two kids in France, I can say only positive things about the French system.  Rest assured, you are having a baby in a baby friendly country.

And Congratulations!

Merci encore!

Hello everyone, so sorry that I haven't responded in such a long time!! Between, work, nausea, fatigue and searching for a hospital, I completely forgot that I had started this forum. Thank you all so much for your messages, I have registered at the Clinique Jeanne d'Arc in the 13th with the Dr Arfi as my ob-gyn ... I found reassuring all the comments on him and the clinic that I found on topdesmaternités.com and I think my husband and I made a great choice! I will let you know how it goes. Thanks so much once again!!

Tout à fait tu dois consulter un gynécologue et il t'expliquera comment faire!

par ailleurs il y a des chances pour que tu doivent souscrire une assurance maladie pour bébé non?

Does anyone have a gynécologue or dentist to recommend?  I just now got my stuff for the carte vitale and can finally take advantage!!
