Good day. I got married this year to a Cameroonian citizen, with a french permanent resident permit. She intends submitting a spouse permit on my behalf in Paris, France and part of the documents required for the permit application include a family record book and a birth certificate with marginal mention (information of family members, marriage status etc.)

I visited the marriage registry in Abuja, Nigeria and was informed by the marriage register that the Nigerian government does not usually issue a famiy record booklet when couples get married in Nigeria.

Please can any Nigerian married to either a french citizen or permanent resident holder, clarify if these documents were submitted with their permit applications or explain which alternative documents were submitted to the french government?

Thank you.

Sikes.

Good evening. I just inquired from someone with similar case. I was told that it's not Nigeria that would give family record book. Your spouse has to write to the French Consulate in Nigeria and request for a marriage transcription on your behalf. After this process, family record book will be given to you by the consulate

Thank you for your response. My partner is unfortunately not a french citizen yet, but holds a french permanent residence permit. She had enquired about the family record book previously from the french consulate and was told it is only issued to french citizens and the only other condition will be if the marriage was held in France. She was adviced that we request the booklet from the country where the marriage was held.

The Nigerian marriage registrar confirmed that the marriage record book is not usually issued to couples when they wed in Nigeria.
