Register in Antwerp

janicejane

Hi. I have my Visa C granted under Family Reunification. I sent all the documents needed to register myself in. My questions : does the Police Officer come to visit at our place?  after I registered myself, what is the next thing to do? do I need to apply Visa D or what?

Thanks.

Possible.

I am quite surprised you got a visa C as family re-union. C type is short stay visa that is given for tourism or for visiting family or friends. For family re-union, normally visa D is granted.

I am not sure if you can apply for residency with a C type visa. Anyway, If the local townhall accepts your registration, they may give you a residence permit. Otherwise they will suggest you to get a D visa ? (Let us wait for the response from townhall).

I applied for Directive 2004/38/EC.

Am currently in the same position. I apply for a visa under directive2004/38/ec. However I was granted a c visa. I just want to know the requirements to register ? And what documents they ask for

janicejane

They accept my registration and I have my appointment schedule next month. They do a residential check first. But my question, can i set the date of when they need to come for my residential check?

Thanks.

Three possible scenarios can happen during the police appointment. From your message, I am not sure whether you have already received a fixed date for your police visit?

a) The police can come to your place any time without warning – daytime or night time.
b) The police call and make an appointment with you.
c) The police expect you to call and make an appointment with them.

Hi Aneeshk, Visa C is for people coming over to form a family reunion in Belgium. Prior to that, they are not married or have a registered partnership outside Belgium. Visa D is given to people who are already married or have formed a registered partnership outside Belgium. There are also other reasons why one gets a Visa D.

Within 90 days of arrival, they have to apply and start their family reunion process for the authority to approve or reject their residency application in Belgium within 6 months. Those who arrive in Belgium with a Visa C will eventually get an F-Card once the immigration approves their stay.

Thank you so much, Aneeshks! :) Nevertheless, I have already gotten my F card two weeks ago! :D

I just received the email today. Usually how days or weeks before they show up your place?  What is the Visa F ?

Thanks.

MissSJ

If the police never give you an appointment date, they will come anytime they want. Otherwise, they will give you a date. F Card is the eID, a residence permit for family reunion purpose.

if you are not present when they visit, they normally leave a note in your mailbox (at least in Brussels it is so) which will have instructions (how to contact, what to do etc). Make sure you have your name on the doorbell and mailbox.

janicejane

They have not given me any apointment yet. Anyway i will just wait till they show up. Thanks a lot for the infos and details.

Hi. I finally had the residential checked yesterday. The officer gave me a paper to bring during my appointment which will be at the end of this month hopefully.

The question.. what is the next process after my appointment? They asked me to bring documents and 2 photos on the appointment day.

Thanks again.
