Confused about changing employers in Belgium with a valid work permit? Get clarity on whether you need to renew or prolong your single permit.

Hello Dears,

I checked in this community but I didn't find a clear answer.
Could you please clarify this point: If you have a Belgian work permit which is still valid (let's say it will expire in more than 1 year). Then, if you change the employer, do you need to do a RENEWAL or PROLONGATION of the single permit?

Single permit is still bound by the employer unless you have a PR (when you are not bound by the employer).

Thus, if you are changing employer on single permit, it still needs to be renewed as your sponsorship has been taken over by a new employer.

To be sure, just email your commune and they will give you the correct answer.
