Family reunification visa - Recent Marriage

cchaitu05

Hi All,

I have been living in Belgium from 3 years and i currently hold Single permit to work. I am planning to go to my home country (India) and get married in November. I will be applying for family reunification visa for my spouse in December. In have heard that if you apply visa for your family either along with you or with in 6 months of reaching belgium, then they treat the family visa at the embassy itself and result will be given in 15 days max. If we have stayed more than 6 months, then they ll send the documents to belgium and it can take 9 months. In my case, as i have been living here from 3 years(more than 6 months case) am only going to get married now, which case will be applied? Dont they consider marriage date while issuing visa?

Thanks in advance

Hi,

Can someone help me with my query please?

Thanks in advance.

No one can predict on this. Nowadays almost all family reunification visa applications are sent to DOFI for decision making.

My wife applied last week under the same category, the office of VFS global mentioned if you apply for less than 180 days..the visa processing will be done within 15 days.
I will keep you posted once I have any updates.

I had a dilema - apply for family reunification with spouse who is Belgian citizen or single permit for work. The consular officer at the Consulate mentioned that if the spouse with whom reunification is applied for has lived in Belgium for longer than 6 months, they are not authorized to make the decision at the consulate and have to send it to the ministry. That’s why I chose the single permit route.
