Hello,

I have been legally residing in Belgium since January 2021. I understand I can apply for the permanent residence card (Carte L) after 5 years, which will be in January 2026.

However, my municipality (Brussels 1000) invited me to apply early in May 2025, and I submitted the application even though I still have 8 months left before meeting the 5-year rule.

I also hold an unlimited work permit and am married.

Could you please advise:

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 Is it possible my Carte L will be approved before completing 5 years?

聽聽鈥⒙� 聽 Does my work permit or marital status help?
