I really like your water and beaches. Have not been there yet but will soon. I have lived on the TX coast for 20 years on the water and off. I speak Spanish pretty much fluently. I grew up in Spain and are close to the Mexico border here. I have traveled all over Mexico until the drug lords took control of the country.

I was looking at Adjuntas or Aibonito due to climate. I wish to blend into the native culture. I have always lived below my means and enjoy poor people who struggle more than the rich. How are the mountain towns.

Very isolated and clanish...beautiful but i'm a city(beach) person....you will enjoy the beauty of Aibonito..why not visit for a while before you make a final decision?

I can see clannish in small communities.聽 I will visit the whole island and spend some time in many places. I will have to fall in love with my home. I am also RE Broker/investor so property will have to be priced right.

It might take 2 small houses one in the mountains and one in a small coastal fishing village. I love the water. I hate hurricanes and 90+ degree heat with 99% humidity. I like island time and love to chill so I believe I would fit in small towns. I just really want to avoid gated communities if at all possible.

By the way, jim,Puerto Rico is not Corpus Cristi: it's not 99%so humidity all the time. For sea towns try Salinas or isabela in the south..Guanica has a dry catus forest..weather here is nice 99%! Of the time...ive been to CC and believe me thiz is much better.

That is the reason I am moving to Puerto Rico. I checked out the small sea towns. Recommendations are appreciated as are links. Personal observations are appreciated. Like power grid brown outs and low voltages in areas. Are there any sites with fishing reports for Puerto Rico? I am strictly a small boat fisherman.

absolutely on the Isabella concept. You will probably fall in love. Look up Jobos and Jobos beach. Right next to Crash Boat beach. Incredible surfing, low key area, great fishing ( I go tarpon and deep sea)lots of local restaurants on the beach, tiki hut bar type local. Isabella is where locals go to wind down( if you can believe you can wind down any further than island life). Its majestic.

I have read a bunch on PR. Isabella is beautiful. PR has so many beautiful places on such a small island. I have scoured the classifieds there looking at houses and rentals.I want a feel for the island. We will probably rent for a year and maintain our house here. The fishing there is much better and a lot closer to the shore.

I may come down for a month in the summer. I have not surfed or body boarded in years;just no good place here. I might turn into a fish living in tropical waters. I have out grown Texas and really need deep tropical waters a constant 85 year round.

Renting is a great idea. Jet blue flys direct to rincon ( next聽 town over) you can go for a long weekend, go fishn and check out the local hangs. My fav rest. Ther is called on the beach. Incrible fried whole snapper!!
