It depends on your standards. I have seen Rentals as low as $400 in places like David. That’s the hottest city in the country though and about 45 minutes from Boquete, nowhere near a beach. Personally, I have found living in the beaches area that for anything of standard quality of which I am accustomed to in the US, Expect to pay US prices.

If you are looking for a relaxed community where you can live near the saltwater and fishing, consider Isla Colon, Bocas del Toro.  This is a small beach town with a large expat community, and the locals are very friendly.

If you're looking for deep sea fishing you'll want to stay on the Pacific side.. The best places are remote east and remote west in the country if you know what i mean.

The Atlantic side scuba diving in Bocas but deep sea definitely Atlantic.

I hesitate to recommend specific places because everyone has different preferences and experiences in their lives.  If you live to fish there's plenty of places 🙃
