How complicated and argues is obtaining a tourist visa for a Nicaragua citizen? I reviewed the steps on the embassy website. It does not provide the success rate or amount of visas issued annually.

Yes, I imagine that would have been helpful to indicate the destination country.
I am seeking advice on a tourist visa and/or a student visa for the USA. The procedural steps are on the embassy's web page, but the reality of success is not indicated.

One expat informed me, he tried to assist a person in Nicaragua with a tourist visa for two years at least, without success. One person explain her sister tried two years and was not successful. Her sister finally received a visa because of marriage to a USA citizen.
