Our non-profit recently sent two vans to Honduras to be used in our work there. The cost of that overland journey dissuaded us from ever doing it again. Thankfully, our team didn't have any misadventures with gangs or robbers but there was no escaping the uniformed thieves at every border. Even with an experienced guide, we spent thousands of dollars, some of it legitimate, but most going into the pockets of corrupt officials.
