Jungle Resort new owner wanted
If anyone ever dreamed of running a beautiful 50 acre resort with waterfalls, great trails in a national forest of Belize. I am trying to help my friend try to find someone to take over her resort . The price is $600K (less for cash) but she is willing to let someoine get into it for about $75K down, no payments for a year while you get re-established. this is a very viable business that needs some TLC as it has not been run for a year now and the right person can live the eco dream here and make a great living and increase thier investment at 25% per year.

BasiaAlm, that is not true. The best time to sell is when a business is profitable. The best time to buy is when the owner needs to get out fast or has personal issues. There\'s nothing wrong with either scenario, and a savvy business person uses whichever situation they\'re in to their advantage.
I sold my business in the States so I could move here after it experienced a 2% growth in a down economy (2009). I was happy to pass those golden eggs on to someone else so that I could live my dream in Belize, and my timing was perfect!

Yes, Wealthship, you might be right. But selling in a depressing market after a business has been closed for a year and needs reestablishing (= has zero goodwill at best, and might have a negative goodwill) sound suspicious to me. But there shall almost always be an eager greenhorn ready for plucking - and pretty often it will be a gringo dreamer...
Well I don\'t think there\'s anything "suspcious" about it. I know Tony, and he\'s straight up. If you read his post, he says:

How much more honest can you be that the biz needs reestablishing? Goodwill\'s nice to have, but not a necessity (all new businesses open with zero), as long as it\'s reflected in the purchase price, which is 100% negotiable.
If a gringo dreamer does come here to buy it, without doing proper due diligence, then they\'ll only have themselves to blame. But it doesn\'t make Tony or the owner bad people for trying to sell if that\'s what they want to do. After all, it\'s not like it\'s a secret the market is depressed.
I did not question Tony's honesty - just the owners expectations. A potential of loosing $75 000 trying to reestablish an abandoned business ... with a worldwide recession looming -Â just did not seem like a wonderful opportunity to me. But, of course, I could be wrong.

Basia, he\'s the poster. In calling the deal suspicious, I believe you are also calling him suspicious. In case it was vague, I was giving you the benefit of the doubt in my ending paragraph of my last post.
I\'m not sure why you feel so threatened on this forum? If you choose to leave your opinions about things here, inevitably other members will feel the need to respond - that\'s what a forum does.
I think you give me far too much credit - I am not in a position to discredit anyone. Other members will undoubtedly judge your comments and mine on their own merits. I really was just looking to have a business discussion with you in respect to your first comment, but unfortunately, did feel the need to point out that the use of the word suspicious was, in my humble opinion, a bad choice of words.

That area of Belize is really growing.
If it is next to a National Forrest and has a waterfall that price is a good buy.
Note: This comment is on the land only. Business is a complicated thing, especially in Belize.
I am sure it would be a lot of work but I imagine someone who wants a jungle area could no quite well with it.

Hi aqll, I wasn\'t able to access this forum for 2 months until someone showed me how to use a proxy server. the point is quite moot. Mama Noots sold and I feel it was a great investment. it is 50 acres of beautiful land, waterfalls, caves. i am now looking for someone to open a Zipline/ Canopy walk there. the plan is that they would lease the land from the new owners (at $1 a year) build and operate the Zip/canopy walk for a period of time to be discussed and then turn it over to the new owners. At present, we send and Placencioa sends an enormous amount of people on a 2 hopur drive to doit and i think the mutualism of this operation would be profitable to the builder operator.If anyone is interested in this, contact me at
