You can get a Hughes satellite to work here. You need an out of country address and credit card - also a permit from Belize to import the dish.
Other than that will depend on where you plan to live.
BTL has service in some areas - but speeds are much slower than you would expect in Canada. They use a DSL system. (not ADSL) 1 Mbps is considered high speed and cost $150 BZ a month. You can get up to 8 Mbps, but it's very expensive.
There is also a 4g system with a dongle - I think a company called Smart does that. But there is a monthly limit on usage, so its good for email and browsing but if you use it for a VoIP system, you would use your monthly allotment in a day or two.
If you live near the Mexican border, some people have setup pirate systems from Chetumal for TV and internet.

If you're looking to be far "Off the Grid", then I'm sure you'll NEED a satellite dish. I get my internet service through Southern Cable...With the husband's HUGE cable package and my internet package, our bill is about $180BZE each month. That's reasonable if you ask me! I use my internet for VOIP, and when my teens are in the country, they stream videos almost constantly! lol We have not had any problem with our activity slowing us down.

Since Linda and I will be moving to Corozal in June (Royal Colony Estates) we would definitely like to talk to you about what you think would be the best arrangements for us re internet services. Thanks for useful information.   RICK
