FXiVaz

Hi all, just wondering I'm on a tourist Visa, for 3 months, but am I able to work?

Sorry if this has been asked many times before.

You did not specify what type of work.  It may be very important to answering your question.   If you're doing private teaching or tutoring in someone's home and get paid cash then you probably OK.   Anything else....I could not say ....there are risks....depends on what you're doing.

Just customer care for an American business in Vietnam.

So i get in contact with Americans.

No.
You might well get away with some things but I'm assured any and all work is illegal.

How to get a work permit? Or should I talk to the boss about some other arrangments?

You should ask your company to obtain a work permit on your behalf.  You haven't indicated if your assignment to Vietnam is temporary of permanent.  If you were employed by this company elsewhere and are in Vietnam on a temporary assignment you may be exempt.  Either way you need to stop working on a tourist visa.   If you get a work permit, or more accurately if your employer gets a permit to employ you, you can get a TRC (Temporary Residence Certificate) which takes the place of a visa.  If you are on temporary assignment, I don't know the proper visa but it certainly is not tourist.

This US company must have worked things out for their top in-country management.  You deserve no less.

I would like to say Thank You so much. I was hired in Vietnam. And just a back story, every 3 months I go border of cambo and Vietnam just to get a new 3 month visa.

So far I've been here since mid last year.

It seems you already know the answer.

You can get a business visa from redknight447 after they fabricate a letter that asserts a business relationship that doesn't exist in reality.  However, that really won't make you able to work legally.  It just means you won't have to go to Cambodia every three months.  Once again, the obligation falls on your employer to assist you in obtaining a work permit.  If they won't help you, you need to reconsider why you are working for them.
