Musings on a job ad

is the leading IELTS English center in Hanoi and Saigon with seven branches in Vietnam. Due to the increase in the number of the student enrolments, we have the need for additional native English teachers to join RES and teach General English for adults and children.
Qualifications:
+ Native English speakers (UK, Australian, New Zealand, American, and Canadian)
+ Have a passion and love for the children and enjoy teaching General English
+ Dont need university degree
+ Don't need experience
Salary:
From 18-25 USD per hour depending the qualifications and experience. Full time teachers are guaranteed to get from 18 to 20 hours per week

Let's see. The IELTS course is quite challenging. Doubt someone with neither a degree nor experience would teach it at a high standard.

One center set up such a class - and put in mostly beginners who had trouble asking the time or commenting on the weather. It was ridiculous and amounted to ripping off the students. (Or perhaps it was all my fault? At least I spoke up)

What's the law? National origin trumps a university degree and experience?

Just wondering. Because I have friends who are NES but don't have degrees.

It's all about $ , they don't care about the kids

That particular center appears to be locked in a downward spiral, as are all of the schools (and recruiters posing as schools) that advertise on the first page of TNH/expat jobs.

The imbeciles are everywhere . My latest was a cretin that pursued me relentlessly to do some work. , when I finally agreed , they wouldn't answer any further messages , even though I know for a fact , they read them . Go figure , it's endemic

The whole industry is quite bizarre. In Thailand, I've met young adventurers from Cameroon who claimed to be both, experienced teachers and NES. One guy "with a degree in English" couldn't even sit down and write a lesson plan. And when he met someone from the Peace Corps, they failed to understand each other!     Not even small talk was possible.

For IELTS lessons, a teacher requires familiarity with specialist knowledge etc. It's amazing to see a center having such an approach.

Saw an ad for teachers under 30, Know a school having a 20 y.o. who was proud of his high school diploma and brought his skate board. Anyhow, it seems the parents are into grammar and more homework? I wish some teenagers would have time to smell the roses and be creative. Overloading them with homework - will that really make them better performers? What do you think?
