Thinking about moving to Minburi to teach.  From the US, any quick words on what you like about living there and the expat community?

I used to live and work in Minburi. It's a pretty local place.

To be honest, there isn't that much of an expat community there. However, you may see expats sometimes at some of the big malls over there, like Fashion Island.

It's a Thai suburb, so of course that comes with some pros and cons. My favorite part about living there was the fact that it felt 'normal'. As in, it felt like any other place. If you live too close to Sukhumvit you don't really see the real Thailand, so to speak. Things are a bit cheaper in Minburi, too.

If you stay in Minburi you may feel as if you've 'gone native', since there aren't too many foreigners around.

Minburi is quite peaceful. Not every crowded as Sukhumvit area. But there are shopping malls, markets, restaurants, MRT stations in some areas.
