Where to find jobs for farangs with experince?

Hi there, just joined the forums and this is my first post! I'm extremely interested in moving to Thailand within a year or so. (Once I save some cash, and have a job waiting) The first part is on pace, but I'm struggling with the second.

You see, I don't want to teach English, and I don't want to start some company with a high risk of failure as well. I have a good deal of experience in business settings, (I serve on the Board of Directors of an NPO here in Ohio, have worked many sales jobs and in offices) and I own my own web design company and am doing alright there as well. In addition, I belong to Toastmasters International and am an officer of my club.

I understand that many of the 'good jobs' are only available to someone who 'knows somebody' and I guess I would like to know if someone here maybe 'knows somebody who knows somebody'聽 haha

I would love it if someone had a suggestion of companies that might want to hire a 24 year old with fairly keen business sense, great interpersonal and sales skills, and a successful track record in all of my jobs.

My advice would be to seriously up your web design company.聽 Finding a job in Thailand for a farang is next to impossible.聽 If you are earning money out of the country you MAY be able to get a business stay Visa.聽 Otherwise you are going to be doing the 30 day visa run.聽 Either that or find U s companies that do business in Thailand, get hired by one of them, learn thai and get transferred.聽 The other option would be to see about registered agent status.聽 Find a small or medium company that is looking to expand their business overseas.聽 Consumer goods is a good field to start.聽 Solicit their business to make you their registered agent.聽 That way you could say you are doing business in Thailand.聽 You would be selling that companies products.聽 I have never heard of anyone doing this in Thailand but do know someone in Italy who did it for years representing italian cloth manufacturers.

Thanks a million! I have been working on doing that here on the homefront... well current homefront. I'm not too interested in sales though.

What's the probability that I would be able to open a ballroom dancing studio once I am there and settled in? I think it would be a great option for me since I am taking classes and will hopefully become a teacher here before I depart!

I know it can be tough to start a business in general, and I also know that you need to know your market before you just open a studio. I'm wondering more how hard it will be to get permission to do any of that...
