Hello, Im the new guy...

alcaeus

My first post, was looking for an intro thread, so if this is in the wrong place, admins please move, thank you.

I once lived and worked in Thailand, six months in the area of Hat Yai, back in 1993.

I thought Thailand was heaven, the food, weather, green hills and warm water.  I enjoyed Phang Nga Bay, the north country of Chiang Mai and BBK, (coming and going).

It is my desire to make to move in an organized process.  Phase One, take 30 days off from work and simply travel the country with backpack, and ATM card.  With any luck I might be able to look up lost friends.  I left the country before windows95 and email, (some of the younger crowd might not know life before email, too funny).

Phase Two, decide on a region that allows for movement within the country.  Considered eastern Thailand (Ubon), but remember it as a major US military sector, and not interested, unless its changed.

Phase Three.  Begin making extended stays, (30-90) to attended a language course, etc.

Figure I've got time, I'll be retiring before long and while still young to enjoy it all.

Happy to be here, hope to make new friends.
