Company Switch - Work visa process in Thailand

Pavin R

I am here on a work visa with X employer and now I have a new offer from Y employer, both in Thailand. I have applied for resignation and currently serving the notice period which ends on 15th September Friday. My current company HR said she would cancel my visa and permit effective by the 16th. Since the 16th of September is a  Saturday she will only be able to inform immigration by the 18th Monday. My new employer for some reason wanted my joining date to be the 16th, but will officially onboard me on the 18th Monday and process my visa on the same date. So basically I will be living in Thailand for a day(17.09.2023) without any visa although technically the notification will reach immigration on 18.09.2023.

Or how much time will be given for a visa-renounced person to leave the Kingdom?

I read somewhere its 2 - 7 days which will be more than sufficient as I would be getting a new permit and extension on the next day itself.

Has anyone been here?

Is there any better way to handle this?

Officially, without a valid permission of stay, you're on overstay. But, you can pay overstay,$500/day at immigration, and most likely they will understand the situation. As long as your documents are in order.

article says a 7-day extension to leave Thailand in case of termination. As you quoted, I hope they will understand the situation or process with a minimum penalty levied.
