Bank account in Sri Lanka ?

tortuga444

Hello to everbody,

I am in Sri Lanka for 6 months on tourist visa every year.

To pay my electricity bill they do not accept foreign credit card right now.

So I would appreciate information how to open a Sri Lanka account at least monthly costs. I assume they differ between banks, but couldn't get a condition comparison online.

Thanks for your help.

Hello, I needed a bank account for an insurance claim and there is no way with tourist visa. You can pay electricity and water bill at supermarket cash or credit card with a little fee about 30 rupies for cash, credit card I do not know but they accept for sure.

I took residency based marriage, so cannot address the tourist visa. However even with a residency stamp on my passport only BOC could offer a joint account. BOC is the government bank, private banks are more restricted.
