I cut costs by cooking at home more, using public transport instead of Grab, and keeping an eye on expat FB groups for second-hand stuff, saves a lot!

Rent is the biggest cost here. Sharing a flat or choosing an HDB instead of a condo saves a lot. I also use MRT and eat at hawker centres, small things that really help stretch the budget.

  1. Review your phone & Internet/cable bills and reduce them if necessary.
  2. DO NOT sign the contract for the phone; if you have a 5G phone, that is enough.
  3. Save your money for any future funding every month - Plan it.
  4. Plan also for rainy days, like a loss of a job.
  5. Last but not least, start walking to save money on food, medical bills and transport.
