Is Permanent address required for E pass

Theee333

Hi, I’m coming to Singapore in a couple of months on an Employment Pass (E Pass), and I want to understand how the procedure works. From what I’ve read, we need to arrive with the IPA letter, then do a medical check-up, and apply for the E Pass card. However, I also read that we need to provide our address.

I’m planning to stay at a relative’s place for a few weeks. Can I provide that address?

Also, if I decide to stay at the same place for a longer period, is that okay? Or do I need to register my address somewhere for future use, such as for opening a bank account and other services?

First when you arrive, you can give your hotel or temporary stay address to your employer until you find a permanent place to stay.

Once you arrive, your employer will issue the EP, and a notification letter will be given to you. Then, you need to make an appointment with MOM services center, and need to take your photo, register fingerprints etc.

For the EP card delivery, they will use employer’s office address, and you will need to collect the card from the employer.

For bank account, it’s good if you can wait until you register for the Singpass because you will get access to the account immediately without waiting for the card to be delivered. You can register for Singpass when you go to register fingerprints.

@Theee333 You need to register the address you stay at with the authorities.

if you do not have a permanent place yet, a temporary address is o.k.

Banks are a funny thing in Singapore. If opening in person they require a proof of anddress even though it’s part of your Singpass. And they accept bank statements (cause eggs come before chickens) or utilities (if staying with family this can be a problem). Easiest is to open a bank online then you can use the digital Singpass. After a month you will have a statement you can use if you want to open a different one in person.
