IPA risk - seeking suggestions. 2 offers, which one to choose?

rajesh kodam

Hello Guys,

Can anyone help me to get out of this confusion?

I am in Singapore for 11 months and joined as a contractor in an Agency and working for a client.

since am underpaid, I decided to change job hence I started looking for a job change, and then I was selected for a company ( Giant consulting firm) on a Perm basis position. I've accepted the offer and submitted documents for the IPA process.

Meanwhile, Another job has also been confirmed which I'm willing to join ( a product-based company with a perm position. offer letter will be released on the 9th or 10th Jan said by HR)

since am new to SG market and it's my first move - Can I accept 2nd offer and ask my 1st offer to cancel the IPA who've already applied for IPA ?

once the second offer starts processing my visa for IPA will it be any risk in approvals?

due to the holiday season -  as of today (3 Jan 2023) when I check MOM, 1st offer hasn't been applied yet but they will definitely apply for sure. ( if I ask them to hold to apply for IPA by telling them any reason, they will definitely doubt me and won't process )

any suggestions, please?

You cannot apply for IPA - only for a work pass (EP, S-Pass, WP). An IPA can be issued as part of the process.

And: As we have discussed numerous times (you ahould read existing threads first!), you can only have one ongoing application at any one time.

@rajesh kodam an IPA (in-principal approval) is issued once the applicant’s work pass application has been processed & approved by the MOM.

A work pass applicant cannot apply for an IPA. An applicant can however, submit a work pass application through his/her prospective employer in Singapore. The work pass application is usually submitted by the employer (ie HR department).

The likelihood of an applicant holding more than 1 IPA at the same time is low due to the fact that one work pass application is processed and case is to be closed prior to moving on to another for the same applicant.

So, based on the information you provided;

  1. You having 2 IPAs at the same time is unlikely.
  2. You applying for IPA is not possible.
