Any places like The Fort/Global City?

offcast

Hello,

Working here for a few months.  Came from Los Angeles, USA.  I quite enjoyed hanging around Global City and I was wonder if there are any similar places to see in Metro Manilla?

PS  I'm Mexican, but most people here tend to think I'm Filipino and speak tagalog to me.  Is there a polite phrase to use that informs them that I don't speak tagalog?

Global City was designed from the start as a stand alone city. There arent any other areas like it as most are dominated by malls. Ortigas (walking area on Sunday) and Greenbelt areas are the only similar but nowhere close to be as well integrated.

Just say you dont speak Tagalog. No big deal.

hi, well as you know most of filipino regardless if they do not speak well of english, expect that they would understand you. well for one our language use to be tagalog, now its more like mixed of tagalog and english.

if you're looking same place like global city, and looking place to hangout, you might want to check out Makati area like in legaspi village (greenbelt area) there a lot of places to go to, theres a strips of bar in C. Palanca street as well, in Pasay road you might want to check out Cable car its a sports bar with beerpong and acoustic night.

Orttigas aa is ok as well, rockwell is more of the well off people but pretty much like makati and fort area.

if you want them to know you dont speak tagalog, just tell them "im not from here." or you might want to mess with them and say "hindi po ako marunong mag tagalog hindi po ako taga dito" :) in english "i do not know how to speak the language, coz im not from here."

cheers.
