We left the USA in 1975 and live in Canada.  I am 78 and my wife is 76 (but not for long!). We have found a wonderful life and are currently in our lovely little corner of the world, Halifax, Nova Scotia.  There is no pollution and the people are friendly and courteous.  I am a retired math prof and we have both US and Canadian passports.  So we are already expats!  It was mainly the political situation in the USA and attitudes of some citizens who were less liberal than us.

Anyway, as you probably know it has gotten exponentially worse and we are tentatively looking for alternatives.  we have travelled a LOT and have been to India 12 times 2-3 months each time.  We are just fine with people from other cultures and have other ways of doing things.  Being quite unmodest, I would say we fit right in.  SO, Nepal?  I hear about many people having just the type and quality of life that we love but the visa restrictions!  India is the same but with a 6 month tourist visa.  One must leave and get another visa in order to return.  Nepal has a much smaller geopolitical footprint which is very appealing and is far from you-know-who in you-know=where.  The residential visa for Nepal looks difficult if not impossible.  I ain't starting a business so what to do?  I guess my first question would be about tourist visas which I understand to be available at the airport coming in.  If one were to, say, leave Nepal after 4 1/2 months, how long would this person have to be gone before they could fly into Kathmandu and get another tourist visa.  We have connections in India close to Amritsar and could stay there for a bit.  Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you.
