The Maori and Islander population in New Zealand have a similar sense of family that can be found in Laos. Family has a greater significance in Laos when compared to the Europeans in NZ. Lao children are well taken care of within the family environment. Because of this I would say that Laos is family friendly. My children never seem to be glued to the TV set, preferring to play outside after school. I would recommend Laos as a good place to raise kids in as long as parents are prepared to accept the Lao way of doing things.
